Harvey Haircut Was a Bullfrog

Harvey Haircut (not his real name) was an occasional friend of mine. We worked together in Memphis and hung out, drinking beer a bit, but I say he was an occasional friend because he was always getting mad at me or someone else and storming off. He was kind of a bitch.  The thing with Harvey was that, though southern, he was extremely  hard to understand. If you've ever seen the TV cartoon, "King of the Hill", he was like the character, "Boomhower" whose mouth was so marbled, people could only guess what he was saying or hope to catch a reasonably clear phrase so that they might get the jist of it. At first, I thought it was my Yankee ears, but none of the locals understood him much either. Company-wide, it was just kind of accepted, just like Boomhower on KOTH.  Actually, his name was Harry Hargett. We were signing in to do some work at LeBonheur Children's Hospital one day and the woman giving us our work badges looks at the sign-in sheet and says, "H...

The Very Unusual Suspect

Trump is the face of the oligarchy. Nothing but the stupid, ugly face of the fantastically wealthy people behind him. Now, he doesn't know this. He's a malignant narcissist who believes it's all about him. This is easy because he's been deluding himself like this for 80 years. He's a perfect storm of idiocy for these people, in their long quest to have it all. They want all the money, want to control everything that they care  to control, and basically fvck everything and everyone else. Just ask yourself, if it wasn't the way they wanted it, would they let this comical, fvcking idiot toy with their  fortunes? If he wasn't making them money- with way more to come- they never would have let him become president. He's truly the chosen one. No other republican on earth could do what he's doing. No one would accept this shitshow from a Bush or- Jeez- has anyone else really  run for the GOP nomination in this last ten years? No. Even after a loss in 2020 a...

You NEED Schoolin', Baby I'm Not Fooling. But Someone is...

All this Harvard v. Trade School talk bemuses me. Harvard would get KILLED  in a football game between the two! But seriously now, there is an absolute need for both. When I was a young Ferrerman, I fell into commercial painting job. It was a union shop and though I was young and had done little more in painting than being forced to paint the front steps at ma's house, they brought me along pretty well. They had me cutting in on my second day. I had pretty much resigned myself to being the go-for kid because of my age and unpractical experience. But I took to cutting in and rolling and all the other stuff. I didn't work with Don Summers, but he clearly had some juice in that small company, and he would throw his arm around me and tell me the wonders of the union. The union would send me to trade school to learn all aspects of painting & decorating. You know, it sounded like a pretty good deal.  Young as I was, I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a painter the rest of my ...

Dress Code

Ever since I was a young boy watching WWII movies, I knew that Nazi's were bad. They were the enemy. They dressed well as they had the coolest uniforms. Most were designed by Hugo Boss. Yeah- that guy. I wasn't aware of the holocaust until the 6th grade until I found the book, "The Theory and Practice of Hell". Pretty serious reading for a 6th grader. I even did an oral book report on it. I doubt my classmates were impressed, and I wonder if the teacher didn't make a notation in my permanent record  to "keep an eye on this Ferrerman... Around this time, I began mentally picturing my enemies in Nazi uniforms. If they wore it well, they were evil. I still do this. Every time I see White House Propaganda Spokesbitch, Karoline Leavitt, I see her in a smart, Nazi officer's ensemble. She's blonde- as far as I know- and maybe was chosen for her Aryan appearance. I've seen pictures of her with her OEM nose, and I approve. Her trump-nose doesn't really...

A Ferrerman's World

Often when I see a very good-looking female athlete, I'll say something like, "She does a great job- for a girl with such a spankable bottom".  Does this sound sexist and or misogynist?  Not to me. Because when you see a beautiful woman in a position of power, authority, on television, in film, or on the field, does your mind think things like, I bet I know how she got the job...  If it doesn't- great! But many men and a good chunk of women see an attractive woman and think she slept her way to the top. They just know  she did.  Take Kamala Harris, our strikingly beautiful former Vice President. Throughout her career as a prosecutor, Attorney General of California, the US Senate and through her campaign for the presidency, she was saddled with ugly rumors that she had slept her way to and through all these careers. Why? Simply because she was beautiful. The better looking a woman is, the more she gets talked about. Women want to be her; men want to be with her. ...

Rat Tales

One morning, I got a call from 162 IQ Lou to report for duty at a now-defunct mall in downtown Memphis. We were told to get with Shakey, a rising young star in the Ratmo LLC universe in the smaller universe that is this world. It's arguable amongst some that the Ratmo universe is more important than the galaxy one, but those that make the case for the former are generally considered to be 'dumbass rat bastards' in my own, private universe. Shakey was a rat bastard.  So was Greg Aluminum, a black fella who had recently been promoted to a supervisory position over the framer-hangers, solely because he was a black guy and the shop feared a lawsuit from Wayne Fishman, who I mentioned a few posts back as a litigious dreamer. I got to give the shop credit for picking Greg solely on the fact that he was a black guy who wasn't Wayne. Greg was an idiot, but he easily met that criteria.  Now, I say Greg was an idiot, but that's because I don't like the rat bastard. I adm...

Idiot-Americans

There's just no getting around it: Ours is a very stupid country. The average IQ is 98. 54% of our citizens (age 16 to 74) read below a sixth-grade level. Damn, we dumb. Them's the facts, but we see this every day in real life as we go about town or peruse the internet. Democrats- and America- lost because of an overabundance of stupid people voted. The shallow dives into "where Harris went wrong" or "how the DNC is no longer the party of the working class", or Bil Maher's assertion that it was because people are "tired of the woke", can all suck my dick. We lost because people are stupid and more of the stupid people voted for Trump. Last night, the one Canadian who is not polite, called the US garbage in a post to me, and said we got what we deserved. The corksoaker might be right about what we deserve, but he was rude about it. He got my elbows up. This is just me, but there is no way a guy like Trump, with 34 felonies and J-6 on his record...

The Mysterious Ways and Means

Alright now, stay with me on this. We all know the origin of Jesus. It's pretty wild, but millions of people believe it. I'm not a religion expert, but all the big-time religions have pretty wild backstories that, in their own way, might make Scientology look plausible and mainstream. They all make you say at some point: "Well, why not?" This is because everybody's Lord moves in mysterious ways. It's a very convenient 'out' when religious leaders can't explain stuff rationally, which is most of the time.  It is amazing that so many people, all over the world, wrap themselves up in whichever religion is practiced in their area. Religion as a whole seems to be first about location, but then about market share. How people become a member of a religion is different here and there. In America, you are often the religion that your parents were raised in. Technically, as I was confirmed a Lutheran because my mom was, that makes me a Lutheran. It's us...

The Big Ugly King

My homepage on the laptop is MSN. It's chockful of McNews type stuff that is sometimes interesting. Like everything else it's algorithm-driven and they want me to read about purchases I've recently made (or thought about...) and they seem to think I care about someone's interesting trade ideas for my Chicago Cubs to make. I don't. Baseball is very real to me, so I deal with trades when they actually happen. It's baseball, not politics.  Well, they pissed me off today with a slideshow of how the Second Amendment will never go away. I don't care how much republicans and rural people like it, nor is it lost on me that guns "...were instrumental in winning both the American revolution and the Civil War (no shit?! Hadn't thought about that). And it's not like evil democrats are poised to repeal the 2A- or that they ever fvcking were. So, just McNews filler maybe?  Don't they know who our King is? If that "Big Ugly Bill" passes the sena...

Where Have All the Cowboys Gone

Caught part of "Brokeback Mountain" on TCM last night. I didn't understand it. Why in the Hell would a couple fellas want to do something like that?! What is the point of being a cowboy, when there are no Indians to fight?! Well, I guess there was more to it than that.  In 2005 when the movie came out, I was living in Memphis. I was friendly with a neighbor- I honestly don't recall her name- but I had taken to calling her "Katrina Gal" as she had come up from near New Orleans around when Hurricane Katrina hit. I say "around" because she later told me that she had left Louisiana one day before Katrina "for reasons", so she wasn't part of the flood of refugees coming to town at the time. However, she took advantage of the amenities offered to refugees and that was alright. She might have missed getting wet, but she sure needed to get dry, just the same.  She was an odd girl, chubby and about the palest white skin I've ever seen. S...

Survivor Spectrum

I'm a casual fan of the Survivor show, usually watching in my underwear and a t-shirt, enjoying a beer. In fact, several weeks in I'll spot a contestant and wonder: "Where the hell did that guy come from??" That I think would be good TV if they added a rando player every week at the beginning to spook the players and the audience. They just show up after a week or two and see who notices and, when questioned, they reveal themselves as "Smitty- from the Kabuki tribe. I got lost, I think. I'm the washing machine mechanic from Greenfield, Indiana". This would also work on cable TV news when they have the remote panels. Have three journalists that viewers pretty much know, and then a fourth person who just sits in silence at their home, staring into their computer's camera. It would keep everybody on their toes. It would keep me  on my toes.  Because I'm a casual fan, I'm never sure who should win. I kinda think reality shows are all faked, so I...

I'm Just Sitting Here Watching the River Flow

Republicans are taking advantage of the Biden health news in a way that only republicans can. I'm not referring to the meanness. They are cvnts. We expect cruelty from them. What irritates me is that the Trump gang is also coming at it from the 'we the people dodged a bullet' angle. Yeah, we could have had a senile POTUS who was also dying of cancer! Thank Gawd for Trump, eh? The fittest mind of any president EVER- and he's cancer-free! We're so fvcking lucky... Well, had Biden stayed in the race, we'd probably soon be seeing, President Harris. We'd be in good hands. None of this horrible Trump shit would have happened. In republican minds we'd be back in the carnage of the Biden administration (he was killing the country, ya know) and the media would be turning the page of their playbook to, "Can she lead?" They wouldn't be happy but fvck 'em, they never are. And republicans would be on offense where they do better anyway. They are ver...

Sin Titulo

There's a person- maybe on Tik Tok- who makes fix-it type videos about this and that. I see the REELS on Facebook. I saw them work on a lawn mower and this evening, trying to split a wet log with an axe. This person is trans, male to female, I'm pretty sure. Not unattractive, but the voice is a tell. And this, of course, is fine. Be who you are.  What's interesting is the comments, most of which are of the "you're doing it wrong" variety that are the staple of comments everywhere. No matter how expert someone is at anything, there's a bunch of know-it-alls out there who will correct them. Matter a fact, there was a woman who is an acclaimed expert in, let's say, Quantum Physics. I don't recall her name, but I think she had one of those names that aren't gender specific. So, let's call her Chris Smucatelli. After a presentation, a guy comes up to her and tells her how wrong she is and advises her to read Chris Smucatelli's book. Somethi...

ONLY in America.

Guy made an interesting observation on the Bluesky today. No other country in the world is trying to emulate our maga system. Wonder why that is. After WWII we were THE leading exporter of democracy. Russia and China couldn't do that. It was all us. Now, we have- arguably- THE greatest leader ever in the history of the world- you know who that is- yet I guess it must be obvious to the other 192 countries in the world that they can't possibly pull it off. They don't have Donald Trump! Only in America... Canada sorta tried, but they just didn't have it in their hearts to be great again. Such nice, unassuming people. Of course, they didn't have Trump. He graciously offered them himself- in a roundaboot way- by offering statehood to them. They're happy being Canada, God love 'em, eh. It's just odd that no other country wants to be this version of America. They must be stupid. I know we are. We don't want this shit either. We *may* have voted for it by a...

Changes

I was fortunate to be raised without any prejudice, by both my parents. It's not that they were enlightened and set out to raise all seven of us that way, they just didn't seem to have it in for any race, color or creed. This was a good start in life. I had to learn- and unlearn- racism on the street.  When I lived in Memphis, I found myself gravitating towards my white coworkers and neighbors. Even with them I had a strike against me being Yankee. You know how it is with those people...  still upset with losing the war, as they had grown up hearing about that from their own parents, who had heard it from their parents, and so on. Really, even most of the older fellas I worked around weren't all that hardcore about it. As the country grows, people become more homogenized by watching the same TV shows, movies, and listening to age-appropriate music. It wasn't hard to fit in with the guys.  With black guys though, I'd have to say our similarities were different. A bi...

The Silence of the Lambs

Years ago, on the Discovery Channel, there was a show about a small gun shop in Louisianna. Mighta been called "Son's of Guns" (?) as it was a family store and gunsmithing operation. Not a mom-and-pop shop as there was no mom, just a pop. Pop was an ex-Marine and he was hard charging but could have stood to lose 40 or 50 pounds. Ex-Marines come in all shapes and sizes. We had one deliver us some paint on a job once. I think the whole crew fell in love with him. I'd say he was early 60's but still a lean, mean fighting machine, with the flat-top military haircut and tattoos.  We chatted him up and he had been a door-gunner on Huey helicopters, landing in hot LZ's , his job would be to spray the weeds with an M-60 machine gunfire in case there would be enemies hiding in ambush. He was certainly someone the VC wanted to kill if they could. And he was the nicest, most unassuming guy you'd ever want to meet. No cocky confidence. Did not take the opportunity to...

Inside Baseball

Blueskyonians are upset about Pete Rose being allowed into the Hall of Fame. It's not about his gambling though. That was the sticking point with the HOF committee and MLB. You could look that up. It's been in all the papers for years now. Blueskyites  however, insist that his (alleged) non-adjudicated rapes should now be considered. A few million of them copy & pasted words that said "character" was part of the criteria for acceptance. Got it. I always thought that was about the gambling, the betting on baseball stuff, as that is what everybody has been talking about for years. MLB and the HOF changed their minds about that, as is their wont to do. Their league, their rules. I don't know why people can't get that. If they don't like that, take it up with MLB.  Pete Rose was one of the greatest players of all time. 4192 hits. That's one of those records that will likely stand for forever. Quite the accomplishment amongst many others. If it wasn...

The Road Not Taken

I was supposed to go shooting with my brother-in-law, T, yesterday. He's up there and I'm down here, so we were going to meet at a site somewhat equidistant for our respective travel. Sounds like a job for Siri, right? Well, I dunno about that. I'm old school. I look at maps and plot. My previous experience with Siri found her perpetually telling me to make right turns at points where none were prudent, as I was traveling west and a series of right turns might only take me back to where I had already been. I ignored her. I think she's best (and less dangerous) in unfamiliar towns where "turn right" might make more sense with intersections involved. Think of it like point A to B is the easy part. Point C is where you'll need the help. That's your destination.  I've been lost before, but here I am now, writing this, because I unlost myself. It's usually just a temporary, frustrating, dilemma. I missed our shooting date, but once back home, I rev...

What Do You Have to Lose?

I always ran kinda thin. Child of the 50's, kid of the 60's, young man of the 70's. We all ran pretty light back then before high-fructose corn syrup became the main ingredient in everything. Had a 30" waist. I remember Laura mentioning that a guy wondered if I even had a dick, when she told him my waist measurement of 30. I begged her pardon as to who that was and how that  came into conversation and she told me it was the clerk at Lord & Taylor. Yes, I had a wife who bought me Lord & Taylor tighty-whiteys. But I don't think there really was a clerk there who correlated dick and waist size.  I'm a 36" waist now and, of course, my cock is huge. Not as big as a sumo wrestler though.  So, I never had to lose weight. In fact, I was rather scared about it. I could always eat as much as I wanted to, never fearing getting fat, yet fearing getting thinner.  Well, I'm not fat now. According to the internet, at my age and height ( damn near 68 and 6...

Lagniappe Pope

Maga is mad about the new Pope for reasons. A lot of ridiculous reasons, I suppose, because they simply do not have good reasons for anything they do. They complain that he's a "lefty", but wasn't Jesus H. Christ kinda a lefty too? Maybe the original lefty, what with his espousing of loving thy neighbor, welcoming foreigners, feeding the hungry, and just being generally nice to people. That was New Testament Jewish Jesus but they kept those attributes when they converted him to *his* new religion, several generations later, after he died. (You know who else converts post-mortem?  The Mormons. They got caught baptizing Holocaust victims several years ago. I think Mormons like to pad the rolls) Christ died a Jew, for God's sake, but they back-tombed him into an entirely new religion. That's just wrong. I just wonder if he goes to a Chinese restaurant on his birthday.  I'm not Catholic. Maybe it shows. But this Pope seems like a good guy. I can't even be...

Gangster Love

Well, Michael Franzese continues to piss me off. No, it wasn't his video about Tony Accardo. That was pretty well done. And it wasn't really too much about his video critiquing the new Robert DeNiro film, "Alto Knights". I fully intended to wait to see that when it would come out on YouTube TV or whatever, because it didn't look good. DeNiro plays both main characters. What is this- the fvcking "Parent Trap"??!! Get outa here with that. The guys weren't twins, They were dead, real life NYC gangsters, Frank Costello and Vito Genovese. Separate people. When Tom Hardy played the Kray brothers- who were twins- that was fine. Though twins don't always look alike, they should, and if they do and are- but there's no sets of twins available to play British gangsters- then let Tom Hardy be Tom Hardy and be both of them. Pretty easy casting, if you ask me. You know, a buddy of mine bragged about bedding twins. Impressed, but curious, I asked how he to...

America, for the Taking

Unless Trump can cause a worldwide depression ala 1929, we are toast on the world stage. The playing field needs to be leveled, or we are ripe for takeover once Trump and the various associates of the Trump Crime Family squeeze the last dollar out of America and flee the scene. Thus, I'm rooting for Trump to take down the whole world. Well, not really- I'm not a fan- but if this has to happen (and it does seem like that's what the slim majority of voters voted for) we can't be the only nation to fall, or we'll be conquered by Mexico, or Greenland.  Historically, the US has raped and pillaged a lot of countries for fun and profit (often with initial cause), but we pretty much always turned around and rebuilt them. Like Japan and Germany after WWII. Vietnam even. Until recently we got cars from Germany and Japan, and I think we get punji sticks  or maybe sneakers from Vietnam. I'm not sure. I've got a pedestrian knowledge of global markets- kinda like Trump. ...

Oh- YOU GOT IT!

Trump Derangement Syndrome is believing that Trump is a tough, brilliant, Christian man. Well, that's what it is to me. But all over the internet, should you even question any idiotic thing Trump says or does, you are accused of having "TDS" in the opposite way.  Trump himself has TDS. He's Victim Zero. I like absurd humor as much as the next guy, and I still try to laugh at this bloated diaper of a man, but it gets harder every day. You can psychoanalyze him all day and come up with "malignant narcissist" and you'd be right, but he's also an asshole.  Russian agent? Probably. A little bit. I don't want to give them too much credit for all that he is now. Forty years ago, one of them probably did see some potential in him and they put a down payment on him, much like the way MLB scouts work 13-year-old Venezuelan infielders. "Let's sign him up and see what happens". It's relatively cheap speculation. You can't tell me some g...

Unreality TV

I've been streaming "Bosch" lately, on YouTube TV. Really like it. I did kinda an odd thing by first streaming "Bosch: Legacy" which is the sequel to Bosch and more current, season 3 having ended in April of this year. In Legacy, Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch is an ex-cop now Private Investigator in Los Angeles, the one in California. In the original Bosch, he's a homicide detective. Titus Welliver plays him very well. Great actor. He's playing his character as a very flawed, every man kind of guy rather than a superhero. You look at the actor and, well, he can't be a hunky superhero. He's got kind of a "Deputy Dawg" look about him, that reminds me of two guys I've known, Harvey Haircut and Kevin Kleinschmidt, so I would imagine a middle-aged LA detective would look like that, even though neither of those guys were cops. Except for "Columbo", TV detectives and PI's tend to be handsome fellas. Men want to be them;...

What We've Got Heah, is Failure to Communicate

Ever see that guy that guy on those Facebook REELS that offers quick tip how-to's about fixin' stuff, usually with WD-40? He sounds like he's from Tennnesse and when he's done with the fix, he tosses whatever he was using to fix whatever over his shoulder and calls out "NEEEXXTTT". That guy.  It took me a while, but I started to warm to him. I even thought of following him. I even read the comments on one clip. You should never read the comments.  I was fairly impressed that he interacted with folks in the comments. Maybe not always, but on this one he did. Evidently some evil doers were hijacking his clips and offering them up as their own, for fun and profit. I would hate it if someone would hijack these posts of mine and started buying yachts and mansions by impersonating a Ferrerman! I don't make a nickel off of this. I do it for the love of the game. I'm not, as Ralph Cifaretto would say: "A whuuure". I'm more of a wordslut in that ...

Complaint Department

I've got nothing but complaints today! First off- my so-called Spelcheck. Don't tell me I spelled something wrong (like Spelcheck) and then say: "No Suggestions". If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem! Or is it "your"? Why am I asking you? You say it's spelled wrong, but YOU don't know how to properly spell it! FACEBOOK. All the cool people quit Facebook back in the 80's. Well, not me! There's a lot wrong with Facebook. They barely moderate is one thing. At least twice I have clicked on innocent looking links that went directly to porn sites. I complained, and was eventually told that those sites don't violate their community standards. OK. That's a business-like way of saying, "Their check cleared". Now, regular readers of this blog know that I know where to find porn. I don't like being tricked into it though. BIGLY difference. There's porn EVERYWHERE, BTW. There's porn on Blue...

It's a Living

I'm confused about penises. A lot of women like the big ones and guys do as well (probably more so) but even the leading ladies of porn say they prefer average sized penises for their non-business screwing. Is it like the guy who drives huge monster trucks for a living going to the arena in his four-door sedan because, well, it's not practical to drive the monster on the road, what with bridges and cars getting in the way. For their personal pleasure, many women choose an average size dildo over the big uns. Who buys the big uns then? Bachelorette partygoers, I reckon. Women have senses of humor too, I know that's right.  So, I watched a few videos on YouTube where porn people interview each other about the ins and outs of their business. And it is a business. One guy, Dredd, is the biggest star (pun intended) and he's a very nice, 50-year-old black man who just happens to have a 13" penis. Porn evidently is woke with the DEI and stuff. I don't know if they ha...
