Inside Harry Reems

Watched a pretty good video of the life of Herbert John Streicher, who essentially was America's first male pornstar. He was a reluctant star at that, never intending at all to get into porn acting as he had his sights set on Broadway. That's a familiar story; one often told about young actresses who go out to LA to make it in Hollywood in TV or film, whichever comes first. Back in the early 70's porn was the domain of the Gambino crime family in New York City and consisted of peep show 'reels' of people screwing that were shown in creepy 'movie houses' and performed by prostitutes and guys off the street who needed the little money that was offered or just wanted to get laid. Porn had been that way for decades, probably from the moment Thomas Edison invented film and the motion picture camera. It was never legal in those years, so no one wanted to be a breakout star. The Gambino's changed that. They were making good money with the reels and stag films,...

Shut the Fuck Up!

" When Justice is blind, bad guys take the fifth. When justice is corrupt, good guys take the fifth". I'm not very vested in these Fauci hearings in congress. Honestly, I wasn't all that vested in Covid at the time as, around it's beginning was when my 89-year-old mom fell and chipped a bone in her hip. I was housebound taking care of her from then on anyway, so the quarantines and disruptions of people's daily lives were already in my domain. I certainly kept up with the news via the media and cringed along with my fellow sentient beings at the republican exploitation of the pandemic though. What a shitshow! People were dying all over the world and our *leader* was telling people to drink bleach, take horse medicine and also ignore it. Yeesh... And I know a witch trial when I see one now, and that if a guy like Rand Paul takes a stand on anything, there is a 100% chance that he's completely wrong and doesn't know what the fuck he's yammering abou...

Days of Wine and Steroids

This had to be mid-eighties when steroids were first becoming popular amongst non-athletic males. I was tending bar and across the street there was a Chicago Health Club. I never went in there as the place wasn't for me. They probably wouldn't let me smoke in there anyways. We would get good looking, fit girls having a post workout cocktail and that was nice. But we would also get young, inflated males who always seemed on edge. Why anybody would want to look like an NFL linebacker to sell shoes or cars or whatever, was beyond me. I don't recall any real problems with them, but the potential was always there. As I understood it, the side effect of the steroids of that time were bad skin, shrunken testicles and bad attitudes. One afternoon, a young barfly named Dave chatted up the overly muscled fella next to him and mentioned the name of a workout enthusiast he knew. The big guy took umbrage and screamed: "HE'S SMALL!!" Uh oh, I thought. Dave was the posterchi...

DEY DOYERS??

In sports fandom, there are just some teams that you seem born to hate. I love California as a state, but I hate west coast teams. Always have. Always will. All things being equal, I pretty much hate east coast teams every bit as much. And if somebody mentions the Packers or the Cardinals and Braves, it becomes pretty obvious that I have no love for the Midwest or southern teams. Fuck it- let's narrow it down. I'm a Chicago sports fan. In my old age I'm even softening towards the Chicago White Sox. I have Sox fans in my family; please don't tell anyone! But Dey Doyers?? I was an early adopter of hatred for them before their recent visit with Trump at the Whore House in DC. I'm glad to see the rest of the civilized country catching on to this contempt for Doyer blue.  I think championship teams being hosted at the White House is silly, regardless of who is president. Why are you doing this? What does any POTUS have to do with your winning season? The 2016 Cubs went ...

Thy Will Be Done

There was a viral video of a senior Cubs fan slapping a young whippersnapper in the back of the head for not standing up for the national anthem. This was a few days ago at Wrigley Field in Chicago. No audio to hear of, but you imagine the old guy first said something like, "On your feet, ya little shit!". Then, when the kid refused to comply, the geezer gave him an open hand across the back of his head.  I don't think anyone but me has pointed out that yelling at and hitting someone during the anthem is not proper anthem etiquette either. I'd rather people sit than hit! This is like turning around and screaming at people talking in a movie theater. The correction is often worse than the infraction. This is because people like to suffer in silence, at the top of their lungs. It's why we have 'Karen's'. We always did, but the internet made them viral.  The old guy (and no one knows who he is) got a lot of support in various threads across the internet....

Billionaire Perks

War makes strange bedfellows. Politics does too, of course. No surprise that the two have always been so intertwined.  I watch a lot of YouTubes. There are so many stories out there that layout how connected the world is; what makes us tik and tok as humans. One guy I have found interesting is a former Army Ranger sniper, known as "The Reaper". This African American, now-Rastafarian looking fella is one of the most laidback professional killers you will ever see. He's very lowkey and matter of fact about his wartime experiences. He's got that thousand-yard stare and he came by it honestly. Not all of the Special Forces bro's you'll find on YT do. SEAL's, for instance, tend to create and embellish stories, like actors do on talk shows so that they might be invited back. Reaper is more matter of fact, honest and blunt.  One podcast he noted that he and a few other Rangers entered a room where their Afghani tribal allies were having sex with boys. This is ac...

By the Rules

The one good thing that has come out of the Trump presidencies has been that he has shown that absolutely anyone  can be president. Most should not, but if Trump can get in, you can't disqualify anyone for any reason. He set the bar low, for sure, but how could there be a bar at all after him? People like to handicap potential presidential candidates all the time, just like sports fans do with ballplayers. The only thing worse than political punditry is sports punditry.  The latter is more brutal and soul and psyche stealing than politics. Get on a fan site and see sometime. Better yet, don't! Those people are fucking insane.  Even though we are currently watching democracy being murdered in the streets and on TV, people are talking about who the next democratic  president should be. Or shouldn't be. Oh, sure- all this horrible fascist, Project 2025 shit is just what republicans are doing on their term. They are unpopular and we'll take over on downs, just as w...

America in the Rough. Are You Ready?

WEE DOGGIES there are some hardcore miscreants on Facebook! Maybe you knew that. They have really come out in force after the frequent ICE murders of immigrants. Those killings are really gaining in popularity even when they entail the murders of white, pretty obvious Americans like Alex Pretti and Renee Good. The maga are rationalizing their deaths just as they do those of the immigrants they have been trained to hate so much. We've been fearing a shootin' war, but it has already been here for a while. Well, it's always been here since the founding of the nation. It's just now social medially acceptable to kill white people.  Of all the tragic thinking humans can conjure up in their oft-feeble minds, the notion that it is acceptable to take a person's life for the possible commission of a misdemeanor  is most obscene. If you are in the know, you know that entering the US *illegally* is a misdemeanor. It's a civil offense, not criminal. You have to pay a fine l...

Blowing Hot Air

Though my name isn't Luca, I live on the second floor. Because of that location, I have access to the attic here. The ceilings are low and I'm tall, so I reached up to pop the access panel and replace it with a screen in the interest of science and maybe utility savings. The screen would keep birds and bats out of my apartment. Probably wouldn't happen, but why find out? The landlord and I posited that in the summer the opening might be a sort of 'chimney' allowing warm air to escape naturally up and out of my place. The theory is that warm air rises and cooler, dense air doesn't. It's not just a theory it's true, so don't fight me on this. You will lose. Or will you? We are in another round of 90 degree days, and I've had the access open for a few, but really could not see any difference in cooling. Well, until last night. Though the sun was long gone, the heat was beating down. This area is a busy little intersection I frequent on my way to th...

Civil War Part 2; Electric Boogaloo

Now, back to the film. It was interesting, perhaps made more so by not being overly ambitious. We are never told why the US is in a civil war, and unlike the first American Civil War, I can tell you without a doubt that "It's NOT about slavery!" It mightcould be about states' rights though as the main opposition force are the states of California and Texas; "The Western Forces". Imagining a scenario where those two disparate states join forces might be a stretch, but maybe not. Were California a country, it would be the 5th largest economy in the world. Texas is Texas and just has always been bigger than life because it says so. We never learn why they woke up one day and chose violence, but the president is played by Nick Offerman and that should be a clue as to how that happened. It's a small role really and whether he is Trumpy or not is never really explored, but you can bet he never tried to implement Universal Healthcare to get in this fix.  The i...

Civil War

I took a second look at 2024's, "Civil War" last night because I've been thinking a lot lately of how quickly the US could go south under this asshole regime and wondering how it might happen. As awful as each regime member is from Trump on down, the obvious fact that not a one of them is the least bit competent in any way concerning their position (or any task they might be given) might be the most alarming. We know they are thieves and whores, and all are getting richer. Trump's a billionaire, probably for the first time in his sordid career as a millionaire pretending to be a billionaire. He likes it. He wants more. They always do. He's a narcissist and a victim who can never have enough money to fill the emptiness of his soul. We get that, yada, yada, yada. Fuck that guy, right? The thing is, despite world wars and depressions, assassinations and all sorts of big country strife, America always went on and we knew it would. America knew what to do. She wou...

It's a Person's World

I've been thinking about sex lately. Like, what's in it for women, and does it have a future for both men and women- in the together sphere?  I'm having my doubts. Women are out there choosing bears (metaphorically, I suspect) and it seems like there are good reasons for that. Most of us fellas do appear to be rapey jerks who really don't like women all that much. When I first heard the term, "cum receptacle" it was on The Oprah Winfrey Show, back in the 90's. Now, in the Year of Our Lard, 2026, I'm almost surprised that the female gender hasn't been reclassified as 'cum receptacle'. Women are getting scant respect and when they do, it generally seems to be when it's necessary to advance the white, male agenda.  I'm not so sure that they even need us for the fun stuff, let alone the procreation portion of life's program. That sperm and egg thing can be done artificially. I saw the other night that only 18 to 20% of women can ha...

Life is Hard for the Stupid. You've Got That Right!

If you have been anywhere near the internet the last 20 years, you may know that it has been beaten into our heads that the only thing protecting us from a tyrannical government is our right to bear arms. The government should fear the people- not vice versa- and the people have the right to rise up against the dang gubmint, anytime it what gets too big fer its britches. Dang gubmint get what for! Fuck around and find out! A little crude and hard to follow, but that's basically the intent behind a billion posts on gun rights over the last twenty years or so. "We have to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government! It's a God-given, sacred right also given to us by the Founders in all their wisdom and glory! It is THE law that protects ALL the other laws! Pretty neat, eh? No other country in the world has a God-given right to defend itself, but the US. We're pretty special in that regard! Here's the text of the Second Amendment, in its entirety. Here we go:  A w...

Nothing to Kick About

I don't keep up with soccer, or as the whole world calls it; futbol, but I get it. I appreciate that probably a billion people absolutely love it. I'm not sure of the figures, but clearly more people love futbol more than 'my' sports of baseball, football, hockey and basketball- combined. That's impressive. Even though it's common for a match to end in a 0-0 tie, I guess it's exciting. It's just not, as we say, "my cup of tea".  As far as competition goes, it's an endurance feat of strength and intermittent bits of skill that many people really like. I won't question their love or sincerity. It looks fun for kids to play, and it can be hilarious to watch five-year-olds going at it. They are also hilarious at T-ball and Pee Wee football.  From a youth participation perspective, your child is better off kicking a ball around a field, occasionally bouncing a ball off their noggin than they are slamming their head into another kid's he...

Abandon All Hope, Ye who Enter Here

Could you have ever fathomed an America so rife with gangster capitalism and led by THE  stupidest motherfucker imaginable, falling apart so fast? Of course not. No one saw this coming, save for the scumbags who made it happen, and even they must have been winging it, amazed at their success. I'm not going to give anyone- least of all, Trump- props for pulling this off. He's not laughing all the way to the offshore bank, pretending to be an idiot. He's not pretending. He's an idiot. Been saying for years that he's a perfect storm of idiocy, the only republican who could pull this off, ever. If Trump was given any marching orders by his handlers at all, surely it was, "Just be yourself. People like that shit!". Oh, he could do that! Tell him he is great and he will believe it. He is a delusional narcissist and always has been. He thinks, therefore he is. Someone is always right there to affirm his brilliant greatness. I don't know who that person is, a...

What the Hell do Words Mean Anyways?

Like you (maybe) I get frustrated by stupid people. There have always been people who were purposefully stupid, but it wasn' t until the republican party was created, prior to the civil war, that we knew what to call them. Now, mind you, they gave us Abraham Lincoln and the end of slavery in the US and that was definitely a good thing to do, but they kind of peaked with that and have been nothing but trouble since. You can look that up.  One of the things they do that irks me is their intentional misunderstanding of the system of government known as socialism. They insist that it is the same thing as communism. They really don't even actually question why there are two very different words when it is so obvious to them that North Korea and Sweden have the exact same systems of government. They are both communist because that's what socialism is; just another word for communism. They have a tendency to oversimplify things, to a fault.  Democratic socialists have recently ...
