Civil War
I took a second look at 2024's, "Civil War" last night because I've been thinking a lot lately of how quickly the US could go south under this asshole regime and wondering how it might happen. As awful as each regime member is from Trump on down, the obvious fact that not a one of them is the least bit competent in any way concerning their position (or any task they might be given) might be the most alarming. We know they are thieves and whores, and all are getting richer. Trump's a billionaire, probably for the first time in his sordid career as a millionaire pretending to be a billionaire. He likes it. He wants more. They always do. He's a narcissist and a victim who can never have enough money to fill the emptiness of his soul. We get that, yada, yada, yada. Fuck that guy, right?
The thing is, despite world wars and depressions, assassinations and all sorts of big country strife, America always went on and we knew it would. America knew what to do. She would not fail. If you wanted to, you could worry about nuclear bombs falling on us at any time in the 50's or 60's, but you knew that even if that happened, the US would fight back and still probably win. We had confidence, even in George W. Bush.
Now we have Trump again somehow, for some reason and, yes, he's way worse than the first time. Who but every sentient being on the planet could have seen that coming?
Trump is a bonafide idiot. You have heard him prove that when he speaks and you are probably no longer surprised when a spokesperson from his staff or the networks comes along and says that he is the most gifted orator we've ever had. That shit's not funny anymore. It's daily. They say it as if it were true, as if they believe it. They might. It behooves them to believe it. Their jobs and bank accounts depend on it, really like never before in any other administration in 250 years.
There is currently a lot of insane talk about how democrats are communists and Trump is at war with them, and it's fixin' to become a shooting war. $350 million is to be set aside to fight 'communism' within our borders. And that communism, Trump and Mike Johnson flatly state, is actually democrats. The same republicans who say the parties never switched on Civil Rights issues, are now certain that the democrats switched themselves to a platform of the common ownership of property. Wheat fields and tractor factories for the people! Kamala Harris practically ran on that- if they say so. The thing is, any time they tried that shit before, like the 'Red Scare' in the late 40's and the 50's, you either fell for it, or you ignored it. You didn't have to take it seriously. That was Hollywood shit mostly.
Now though, on Facebook, all democrats are communists. That brilliant political sentiment is pouring out of the idiocy of Meta and into daily political discourse. It's one thing to read Joey Bunchanumbers saying that; quite another to hear the Speaker of the House say it on camera in his foppish manner, with 'authority'. He's supposed to know the difference between communists and democrats (might have come up in constitutional law school) but he's getting paid not to know it and repeat what he doesn't know.
Now, all of this is ridiculous. The whole regime is quite obviously corrupt. Also obvious is the impending midterms where, by design, the ruling party generally gets its comeuppance whether it deserves it or not, because that's how this works. Trump and his lackeys can fluff him until the cows come home, but the guy's popularity dwindles more each day, even amongst people who have voted for him three times now. This means that congresspersons and even senators will be replaced in November. With that, impeachment will surely happen and he'll lose his job as the balance of power swings towards the communists- I mean, the democrats. Trump and select billionaire benefactors and the authors of Project 2025 obviously cannot allow this. It's doubtful they can even cheat to thwart this impending loss. So, what to do? Well, no one is sure because there's no real precedent for this. No one has ever led a serious coup against the US before. There was 'The Businessman's Plot' of 1933 but that was really dumb and half-hearted. No one took it too seriously. A big eyeroll of silliness few people even know about today. And we had a Civil War in the 1860's but people still argue whether it was about slavery, or state's rights...to own slaves. Somehow there is a distinction there for people to argue about. People will argue about anything. See: The Internet.
Most people believe the midterms will happen and Trump and his party will get trounced. There you go. Right? But how in the heck can a regime that is openly calling the loyal opposition 'communists' and talking about making war on them and imprisoning their leaders and supporters, be expected to participate in a contest that they will certainly lose? Hit yourself on the head with a hammer a few times and then ponder that from their perspective. Letting 'we the people' decide your fate is not an option with this regime. Not if they want to win. They really aren't that popular.
This is why I don't think they will take a big chance at the high school dance. There is too much money at stake. Too much power. Too much Trump glory. And too little time. They are four years behind schedule. He is four years closer to death. This was all supposed to be settled in November of 2020 with a Trump victory. They had 2025 in their secret manifesto! All the grifting and scamming was supposed to recommence on DAY 1 of his second term, over four years ago now. They were pissed about losing because they believed victory was in the proverbial bag. How could they lose to an old guy like Biden when youthful Trump- arguably in their own circle jerks- the greatest president EVER- was the obvious choice of the richest people in the world? There had to be cheating involved! They knew this because they had cheating all set up to make it so. Nobody is more upset than a cheater who has been cheated. It's so unfair!
Now, maybe both sides cheated, and Biden's camp just cheated better. Possible, though not likely. In reality, only wealthy Trump loyalists and slow-witted maga voters were certain he was going to win in 2020 and there wasn't enough of them this time. The communists (they were democrats then- sorry!) came out and voted like their lives depended on it. That is the way elections are supposed to go and generally do. It's not like sports where gamblers and diehard fans know their team is going all the way because (a) they want them to and (b) because there will be a bigly payoff when they do! Actually, it's a lot like sports when you factor in pundits and media who like to play their own favorites to manipulate the masses. That's why sports and most things in life are so predictable. You just gotta believe what you are told. Pretty simple; like having faith in the Lord. In sports parlance, Biden wanted it more in 2020 than Trump did. And in 2024, Elon really knew those voting machines. That's what I hear. Trump said it in so many words. But Trump lies all the time, so you can't take his word for a damn thing. Right? That passes for innocence these days. "You can't believe a fucking word that guy says!"
So, what does this have to do with the film, "Civil War"? That will have to wait until next episode here, probably tomorrow. I've hinted at it enough and I really hate being coy and I digressed too much for one post already. And I'm feeling nappy. Later.
