Unhappy Anniversary to You

I have never for a moment believed that the National Rifle Association (NRA) seriously viewed themselves as anything but a business, out to make as much money as possible. They could argue that the design of the Second Amendment was to arm American citizens against a tyrannical government- and they did- but it was all marketing to sell guns, ammo and gun related accessories. Like many advertising campaigns do, as it grows it tends to go in different directions as it succeeds in the marketplace. From its humble beginnings as a post-Civil War organization whose aim was to teach northern boys to be the marksmen that southern boys were at the time, to a non-profit, multibillion dollar 'gun rights' organization that owns most of congress. Quite the uniquely American success story.

For the last several decades the NRA has been focusing on the notion that if a tyrannical government took hold in the United States, their members would be the citizen militias that stood against tyranny. That's bullshit. Bluff called. They and their members are doing nothing to combat this nefarious Trump regime. Well, next to nothing really. Many of their members have joined ICE to support the regime hellbent on fascist control of this once, fairly great country. I think that was their intention all along. "You can't beat 'em, so why not join 'em?" You get to be on the winning side that way.

You see, it turns out that "tyrannical government" to the NRA was any democrat-led administration that taxed millionaires (and above) for the purpose of restricting not just gun ownership, but the restricting of a republican gun owners right to impose their will on namby-pamby democrats who might think it's OK to allow Americans to have the freedom to do things that irritate patriotic gun hoarders. It wasn't just guns and ammo sales. They don't like people being gay, trans, any religion that might threaten the market share of evangelical Christians, or a myriad of little things the republican party doesn't like about democrats because it keeps them from controlling everyone and everything. You know- FREEDOM!!! Freedom always seems to be one of those "your mileage may vary" things and it's very easily both sides' these days by the media. Everything is though. The good news is that won't last. The bad news is that won't last. One more year of Trump and we will just get one side of each story.

Obviously, I believe that the NRA is nothing but the militant wing of the GOP. I knew they would never actually fight tyrannical bogeymen in our government. I figured they'd join them. I think we will soon see them coming to the aid of ICE and any regime agency, once Americans are pushed to the point of defending themselves against this tyrannical regime. That it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. Gun nuts are very stupid, malleable people. For decades they have been told to buy guns and ammo because each democrat POTUS was coming for their guns- so stock up! They fell for it every time; the old "HURRY- WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!" marketing trope. Tried but true.

No doubt those guns will be used to defend Hair Furor against liberal-Americans who might stand up against him and his lawless regime. I think they intend to take to the streets of rural, small-town America and impose Trump's will as they've been told it is. This will be in support of the military who will be busy overseas giving what for to any rouge nations unwilling to give up land and or money Trump needs to Make America Great Again. They will be the helpers in defending his plans. They won't be the Jew passively boarding the boxcar. They will be the patriot loading the undesirables onto the boxcars. The winners, lording over the losers. They are certain they will be on the right side of history.

America is a mess now. But the real mess hasn't gotten here yet. Trump is losing support- and brain and bodily functions- every damn day. This was not only to be his time, but the time for every degenerate gun-crazed patriot who couldn't handle democracy for all and was willing to kill for his perception of his freedom, that conveniently aligned with the views of The Heritage Foundation and other *think tanks* we have suffered for decades. Hey- this is our 250th anniversary this year. How about that for timing, opportunity and irony? America is the bitch that, if they can't have her, no one can.
