Her Soft Underbelly Exposed

One of the better interviewers you'll see on YouTube is Mark Laita of the "Soft, White Underbelly" channel. It's my understanding he is primarily a photographer whose interest has always been photographing the unseen segments of society- the street people, prostitutes, criminals and kinda freaks of life, that we generally ignore. Maybe it's all in the editing, but his success seems to be in letting his subjects talk without too much prompting from him. It's their story. 

This episode was with a porn star- Addison Vodka. Well, that's what she goes by. Though I have seen my share of porn, I'm not on a first or last name basis with most of these people. So, I fired up the Pornhub to see what she what she was like in action. She does a good job for a girl with such a schpankable bottom. No doubt.

But she was an enlightening interview. Twenty-five years old, super cute and very engaging. Very pleasant. Just nice and very normal considering her path to porn. 

While it wasn't the typical tale of actresses that begins with the sound of a tinny piano playing and, "Mister, I met a man once..." it was disturbing in a more contemporaneous way. there was no childhood rape/incest but she did come from a broken home. Dad and mom both seemed distant. Her and her brother seemed on their own. Kids today have internet to entertain themselves. They grow up fast. In grade school she was getting on sites and chatrooms I never heard of, engaging with adults. She was going places on the 'net that parents today fear, but don't really want to think about. She was learning about sex, too fast and perhaps too furious. When I was a kid in the 60's, of course there was no internet to misguide us. We learned on the playground. All we had access to was rumors, innuendo and Playboy magazines. Not the best start, but better than today. Even in the later 80's I recall Oprah Winfrey talking about a blowjob being the "goodnight kiss" for the 12-year-olds of that time! And that's before the internet. Now- they can literally see anything. And begin to do anything. You can learn it all and then some.

Ten years ago, Addison was 15 and already an internet porn veteran, perhaps a star in her own right on some sites. There is something very wrong with that. There is a lot very wrong with that. There isn't anything right with that. 

Now, this is just one interview, but I'm still amazed how happy and normal Addison appears to be. Laita certainly seemed to be too as he was quite taken with her. He doesn't like porn and believes it to be hugely detrimental to young men. How do you relate on a human level to the girl in the Social Studies class or the woman in your office, when you are one click away from thinking she should be blowing you or you should be sodomizing her, because that's what women want? He took it further. Why even bother to date or romance that girl, when you can go home and jerk off to someone who looks like her? 

I have to believe that Addison Vodka is an exception in the porn world. She's not a drug addict or a tattoo addict looking to finance either of those things. She doesn't do drugs, and apparently the "Vodka" surname is kinda ironic as she's not a boozer.  Many of them do cope with the degradation with drugs. She's not looking to get even with daddy. She didn't quite say this, but there might have been some Diddy involved. She goes to those "Eyes Wide Shut" sex parties and has been around some famous people at those soirees. Sometimes the masks come off...

Though Laita is against porn (and had not seen her work as of that interview) he applauded her success. Like they say, "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life". You go, girl. If she's happy, I'm happy. Isn't happiness enough sometimes?
