I'm Keeping My Eye on Some College Girls

Much to my surprise I am watching- and enjoying- "The Sex Lives of College Girls". Yeah. This is what happens when you don't have NFL channels because of the capitalist patriarchy. And you're cheap. But it's a good thing. I'm expanding my television horizons.

I remembered seeing ads for it on HBO/MAX when I was bingeing "The Sopranos" and thinking it looked kinda stupid. If I had had to guess, I'd have thought it was like 'Sex in the City Goes to College', but I never watched "Sex in the City". I watch things like the Sopranos, so I don't know.

I gave it a shot and I'm glad I did. It's clever, very funny and got a good amount of titties and bottoms in it. And I'd have to say, several episodes in, that it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's about four girls from different backgrounds, rooming together in their freshman year at a Vermont college. Naturally they are dealing with boys- and girls too- and sexual hijinks and hilarity ensues. This Ferrerman did not go to college, and if I did, I bet they didn't have official 'naked parties' in the 70's when I would have been eligible. I don't know if they do now either, but I must admit I have access to the "College Rules" genre of Pornhub and I can't say for sure if that is real or not. Are kids today filming orgies in their dorm rooms? The production values and 'casts' sure look like they pulled real coeds out of class, got them liquored up and had them go at each other without any regard that their dad's might be viewing. BTW, in the show, the naked parties weren't orgies, just get togethers where boys and girls were naked just to socialize in the buff, without any immediate sexual intentions. Really? OK. You tell me.

The four main girls are interesting and all good actresses. No spoilers here, but the Indian (Hindu) girl is a boy-crazy slut, the poor, small town gal has a generous helping of golden bozos and a bigger heart, the rich girl is a closeted lesbian, and the very attractive black soccer star round out the quartet of main characters. They all make poor romantic decisions. Don't we all, at any age? It's just more fun when we are young and desirable. Everybody knows that.

I'm a sucker for stories of redemption and taking a stand, for yourself or a friend and self-discovery. This show delivers that. It's very watchable and I recommend it!

******UPDATE*****

It kinda dragged in the 3rd and final season, getting more predictable and redundant. This happens with many shows as the original writers move on to new projects and they are replaced with one's that seem to be told, "Stick to the formula". Two classic examples are, "Happy Days" and "That 70's Show". The first season of both shows were excellent! But there soon comes a time when writing is replaced by catch phrases and raucous applause when each character makes an entrance. Those showrunners and writers can "Sit on it, Potsie!" I stuck it out to see how it ends. You never know in the fickle world of entertainment if it is planned for a show to end or if the trumpian big wigs decide to just end it like they are tired of feeding poor children or something. I bet they figured on 4 seasons to match the 4 years of college, but they got into the sophomore year and it just sorta ended there. So, no "SERIES FINALE!" That's showbiz.
