Kirk Out
Charlie Kirk didn't just fall out of the pundit tree. He was at this game for quite a while. He's being eulogized now as a guy who was very good at his job, even some sort of leader. Interesting, but his job was to be a divisive, rightwing asshole. OK, he was good at that, but why honor it? I don't get that.
Last night Yankee Stadium put his picture on the Jumbotron and asked for a moment of silence. To my knowledge they have never done this for the hundreds of innocent school children that have been murdered, and definitely not for the two Minnesota representatives recently murdered in their home. So, why Charlie Kirk?
You don't have to look far to see what an asshole he was. Misogynist. Antisemitic at times. Tragically- and ironically- about the despicable gun carnage here in the US. He had a very practical, omelet-making take on guns which amounted to the Second Amendment being glorious- we are lucky to have it- and, if a few people die by guns in honor of it, so be it. That's life. That's death.
Whether it's the New York Yankees, any republican congressperson or the formerly great Gavin Newsom, too many people are acting like this fucking guy was somebody important. He wasn't.
Why don't guys like Kirk, Shapiro, Beck and Coulter run for office if they have such wonderful political takes? Well, accountability. They'd rather not have it. Why risk running for office- and losing- when running one's mouth is so much easier? It generally pays better too. It's freedom. When Charlie Kirk says gays should be stoned to death, there's no accountability. He's just a guy saying wild shit for fun and profit. Yes, republicans in government have a deep bench of assholes talking shit, and there isn't always accountability for the Clay Higgin's of their world, but that is their dark, muddled corner of the world. They simply don't care how unprofessional their boys and girls like him get. Boebert and Green say stupid shit all say, every day, but they'd never make a living at punditry because they aren't that good. They also serve, who merely serve in congress, talentless bitches thar they are.
Yeah, Kirk was good at being a divisive asshole. When he says things like "Gays should be stoned to death", he didn't scream it like some street corner preacher. He said it calmly, matter a factly, as if it were a viable position, not at all insane. So, he gets respect from the Yankees, Newsom, the wrong side of congress and his fellow members of the asshole pundit community, as if he were a political figure like MLK or the murdered Minnesota legislators.
Got it. Fuck him. He may well have been the best of the republican party. That's a goddamn shame, but they will never realize that.
