Imaginary Friends

Had a minor kerfuffle with a longtime mutual on the Bluesky the other day. It was interesting in how it played out. Amelia Earhart had been in the news and this person wondered why. Had she been a spy or something? I answered that I had heard that over the years and that I had also heard that the Japs had shot down her plane, captured her and maybe killed her. I don't know. That's what I've heard. She liked the post and thanked me for the info. This was in the news because Trump was releasing the Earhart Files to deflect from his steadfastly refusing to release the Epstein Files, which, BTW, he is NOT in, and he can prove that by saying so. One might think that releasing files one is NOT in might be proof that one is NOT in the files and be a better move towards proving one's innocence that not releasing the files, but one doesn't know Trump, does one.

Within a couple of minutes, I received a meme from a woman I did not *know* expressing her contempt at my use of "Jap". I believe I posted "OK" and then muted or blocked her, because I saw no point in feeding her. She didn't indicate that she was Japanese and personally hurt by the *slur* so, there was nothing to be gained by further engagement. Suddenly, my imaginary friend of a few thousand posts, blurted out, "DID YOU JUST USE A SLUR ON MY POST??!!"

Well, I thought to myself, it's right there, why bother asking? She DEMANDED I delete it. Well, that wasn't going to happen. Edit me to your heart's content, but I'll edit me to mine, thank you very much. If I wanted you to make my posts, I'd be you. Not wanting to be you, I won't be you. Simply, don't fucking tell me what to post. If you don't like what I post, ignore it, condemn it or block me for it. Just don't demand I delete it or think that I owe you an argument for something you chose to be offended by, after prompting from another person. That's no way to treat an imaginary friend.

  1. Lol. They try to dilute history. I saw the blurb about Earhart but didn't read what is was about. I know she was a terrible pilot and most likely plowed into an ocean.

    1. See, I didn't know she was a bad pilot. If she was not a good flyer she probably shouldn't have been out there around all that water. BUT I don't tell people what to do.
