Make Good Choices
"He (Newsom or Pritzker, so far) is only running for president!"
Oh. OK. Thanks to Trump, I guess, anyone who is running for president is an opportunistic scoundrel, not to be trusted. In as much as that is the job description here in Trump 2.0, I don't think either of those men is qualified to be president.
Check your calendars. 2028 is over three years away and we have ZERO assurances that there will even be a presidential election in 2028. People still believe midterms are a lock, and they could happen, but only if Trump's handlers are certain that the fix is in for them. I'm not a gambling man, but I know people and it's an easy call that these fuckers in power now are in it to win it, for forever. They want a sure thing and are in position to make that happen.
The presidency, along with the demise of democracy here in America has changed. It will never again be like it was. Maybe that is a good thing. I don't know yet, but I kinda think it is. The two-party system that we had before Trump gave us Trump on a gold-plated platter. That should not have happened. A true democracy does not have a Trump as president. Ever. Maybe not a Newsome either. Not now at least. He would have been a good counter to Trump in 'the old days' of 2016 and 2024, but not so much now. We had two excellent counters to Trump for those two elections. In fact, both were better. But they had ovaries. We could not have that pre-Trump- obviously.
Whatever happens after Trump is gone, the old ways of electing presidents should be gone for good. It should be a popularity contest without any golf-handicapping such as The Electoral College is. That relic of slavery is embarrassing to the so-called greatest democracy in the world. When no one else in the world is doing something, maybe you are doing it wrong. Only in the US presidency can you win the popular vote yet lose the election. That's not only insane, but it's also fucking stupid. It gave us Trump in '16. They used to tell us The EC was a safeguard against guys like Trump. They can't tell us that shit anymore.
After the 4th Reich is defeated, our new leader will hopefully be fresh from the ashes of battle. Personally, though I like JB Pritzker a lot and am warning to Newsom a bit, I envision Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. I saw a picture of a beautiful French woman, a breast bosoming out of her peasant blouse, sword in the air, leading the people in battle. The French are very- how you say- quite Ferrermanesque in their appreciation of strong, beautiful women. Female or male though, OUR next leader should be fresh from the fight. A hero or heroine. Not necessarily with scalps on their belt, but with the bonafides of battle and leadership. Scars. Tears. And a winning smile. Like George Washington, though I'm not sure he ever smiled.
We have to choose our leaders better. It just doesn't work well when they choose us.
