Attention Walmart Shoppers

Had a little misadventure with Walmart online the other day. Via them I had ordered a new Xbox controller. It arrived in a reasonably timely fashion, but it did not work. That was unacceptable to me. Such things happen though, and that's why there are returns, refunds and exchanges. Walmart offers these, but not in a serious way. On their site it's very easy to find and almost choose the item you would like to return, but it is impossible to continue from there. I could have clicked on the "continue" button all day and I would never actually continue. I have to believe that this is by design. Not poor design of the website, but rather, good- but evil- design of the website. The idea seems to be to frustrate you so much that you give up and stop bothering them with your petty grievances about nonworking items you paid for coming to your door.

It's not just me. I hit google to see their answer to my query of, "WTF is wrong with Walmart's website??!!" Words to that effect. It was there that I found out that I was in good company with this bad company. It happens a lot. That site agreed with me that the intent seems to be to stymie consumers. I don't think that is good business, but I put on my republican thinking cap (Reynold's Wrap brand) and figured, well, it works for them. They are very successful!

I took to Facebook to commiserate with friends and family. I vowed to never shop at Walmart again- even for groceries. We have a perfectly good supermarket right next door to Walmart, and a cheaper one on the way.

I knew I would break that vow.

All it took was to go to the perfectly good supermarket and look at the prices there. Yikes. I bought a few things though, since I was there. It's a good place for bananas and tomatoes which I bought. An onion too. Sigh. I'll be going back to Walmart, at least until I need bananas, tomatoes and an onion again.

What can you do? We're all victims of Trumponomics and terrorist tariffs here. So is Walmart and the nice supermarket, the one that reminds me of my millions of trips to various Da Jewels and Krogers in my life. This is The United States of Corporate America, and your money goes to one evil empire or another, so pick your poison. Just save what you can, where you can. Save BIGLY money by not shopping online at Walmart!
