 You see, folks, no other president could pull this off. No normal republican president could do this- or would. No, not even a Bush. Certainly not Dwight Eisenhower, the last great republican president after Lincoln. They've only had two, ya know. It had to be Trump. 

He doesn't mind being an asshole. It comes easy to him because he is one. The old proverb: "A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit" applies to him in the abstract way, because what he is doing now is planting fiscal depravity for others to enjoy, years after he is gone. I don't know how delusional he is, but "very" seems like a good guess, and I wonder if he is cognizant of his own mortality. He might have taken then Dr. Ronnie Jackson seriously at his diagnosis that Trump would live to be 200. I bet Ronnie did. The other day Trump inexplicably said to a reporter that they shouldn't be near him, that it was dangerous. I took that to mean that they were cooking up another assassination hoax and he wanted to be prescient. Then he bombed Iran and that sort of reinforced that. Stay tuned. 

He just turned 79 (it was on "No Kings" day- a rival party- so you probably missed it.) But he surely understands numbers and Big Macs so, he's got to have some idea that his best days are pretty far behind him. A normal president in his second term (and boy oh boy us democrats have had a shit ton of those!) thinks a lot about his legacy, how he wants to be remembered, and for what.

Trump will be remembered for destroying democracy and making oligarchy safe for those of his tribe. It fucking already was safe for the billionaires, but everybody loves a sure thing, most of all the morbidly wealthy. Will they tire of mining their own crypto and becoming multi-trillionaires? You and I would, but the rich, they're just not like us. One doesn't slave over a hot family fortune and hedge funds all day, day in and out, without dreaming of retiring and taking it easy. 

That's what this is all about- having it all and printing your own money. Answering to no one. Responsible for no one. Hasn't this always been the republican dream? Only Trump could make it happen. They know he's an asshole and they love him for it. 

The sustainability of all this remains to be seen. To take the greatest country in the history of the planet and strip it for parts is a pretty serious undertaking. Lucrative, I'm sure, but I'm going to guess they will find it harder than they think it looks. They'll have to thin the herd like Stalin and Mao did. "When there's blood in the streets, buy real estate", they say. But who will you sell it to? Perhaps the plan is to make America an Epstein Island-esque playground for billionaires? There's a lot of Americans in the way of that. Blood is ugly. Story for another day, I guess. Anyways, they picked the right asshole.

Flipping the Script

 When it comes to TV and movies, I don't like to know how the sausage is made. But full disclosure, I find it hard to resist the inside info when it comes to "The Sopranos". As luck would have it, there are a bazillion YouTubes about all things Soprano.  It's kinda crazy to me that people that people spend so much time gossiping about a fictional show. "Why did this happen? Why that? How 'bout this theory?"  Shit like that. My first thought is always, ask the writer. It's their story. It's not ours to add anything to it. It's not "The Bible", after all.  Story arcs are different though. I've been seeing a lot of a particular arc in The Sopranos that always befuddled me. Marisa Tomei Likes Me

Marisa Tomei- I always thought I had a chance with her... That's a line from a "Seinfeld" episode where George Costanza said that about Marisa Tomei, and then as the script would have it, he met Marisa Tomei and they hit it off. Every mention of Marisa Tomei on the internet- if I see it- I will post it. Seinfeld fans get it.  So, I did that last week on a Facebook post and quickly got a like from Marisa Tomei. This caused me click on the profile, curious as to whether the actress was on FB or if it were a fan page.  I've gotten likes from actors before. Some I think were legit because they were just likes. Some of the cast of the "Sopranos" liked a post I made about the controversial ending of the series, where it suddenly went black- and that was it. Series over.
