Marisa Tomei Likes Me
Marisa Tomei- I always thought I had a chance with her...
That's a line from a "Seinfeld" episode where George Costanza said that about Marisa Tomei, and then as the script would have it, he met Marisa Tomei and they hit it off. Every mention of Marisa Tomei on the internet- if I see it- I will post it. Seinfeld fans get it.
So, I did that last week on a Facebook post and quickly got a like from Marisa Tomei. This caused me click on the profile, curious as to whether the actress was on FB or if it were a fan page.
I've gotten likes from actors before. Some I think were legit because they were just likes. Some of the cast of the "Sopranos" liked a post I made about the controversial ending of the series, where it suddenly went black- and that was it. Series over. I saw it as a "choose your own adventure" ending that, while very odd, really worked. If there is one thing I know about people, it's that you can't please all of them, any time. Was Tony murdered? Arrested by the Feds? Who knows. It was fiction. The viewer can't demand the ending they want. You really have no right to it. You can like it or lump it.
The cast members seemed to agree. They know that they don't know even though they know the writers. Maybe they asked. It is a real, 'it is what it is' situation. Perhaps a perfect ending to a truly beloved series. Piss everybody off instead of millions here or millions there. Were they the real cast members? Probably. All they did was like my post. They didn't elaborate by offering inside info. They seemed legit. Famous people are on the 'net too. They don't get a pass. They've got time on their hands just like you and me.
Last month, a Chicago Cubs Hall of Fame liked not one, but two of my posts. I bragged about that on my page and an old schoolmate of mine cautioned me because some ballplayer impersonator had attempted to scam him. I assured him it wasn't anything like that, just harmless likes. The link showed a page that probably was a fan page. FB should verify these things, but getting FB to act right is a near impossible expectation. I mean- these FB assholes don't care if a post links directly to malware-infected porn, as long as the porn site's check cleared. True story.
Marisa Tomei, however, posted back to me. It was a very flowery, kinda intimate post as if we were old friends or lovers. She called me "darling". I <blushed!>
That kinda made me believe, this was not the star of "My Cousin Vinnie" or that "Seinfeld" episode. There is a chance she's crazy and seducing gullible Ferrermen on the internet, but it's not at all a good chance. Also, I'm not that gullible. As my exes can attest, a woman needs to do a lot less to fool me.
So, I opted to play it reasonably straight and not feed the troll or Marisa if she had indeed gone crazy, or perhaps, was researching a role where a beautiful movie star catfishes unsuspecting Ferrermen for her own evil agenda. Not likely, but it has been tried before. Just not by anyone as so goddamn good-looking as Marisa Tomei. The exchange ended on her end when she asked how I was, and I replied: "I'm alright- wait- what have you heard??" She didn't respond. Our relationship was over.
Ya know, I still think I'd have a chance with her...
It could be legit. Why not? I haven't heard from Aaron Taylor Johnson yet, but I wait anxiously for his comment. How many exes we talkin' about?
ReplyDeleteTwo, both in the 20th century. I only count marriages. Who is Aaron Taylor Johnson? Sounds old-school presidential.
ReplyDeleteHopefully he'll be the next Bond, James Bond, if there must be one. Did you see the movie, Bullet Train with Brad Pitt? He's in that. He's hot. He combined the last name of his wife to his.
DeleteNo, I missed that one, so I looked him up. He did not shaken or stir me as I am 99.9% straight, but he's a handsome fella.
