More of the Same

Winston Churchill said that "Democracy is the worst system, except for all the others". Something close to that. There is a part of me that thinks that maybe, as we close in on 250 years of democracy as we know it, we should burn it to the ground and start all over. Maybe get it right this time.

It's clear that with a republican party existing in any form, that the United States can never be the democracy we deserve. The loyal opposition has never been loyal and has always been there to throw a wrench in the gears. They have never wanted to feed children, fighting every Head Start or school lunch program, whenever it came up. They love spending money on stuff, but not on people. There's no profit in it! "The business of America IS business" they say. Why have a postal service when it loses money, they ask. We counter that the USPS is a non-profit, a service for the people that was never designed to make money. This really frosts them. How can you not make money at everything?

Look at Donald Trump. He tried to make money with a children's cancer charity, and they vilified him and his family and said they stole. No Trumps are allowed to participate in any charities now. This happened well before his first term, for the record. Now, charities have always been dicey. You can donate to this one or that one and then later learn that only 9 cents of your dollar actually feeding starving children in Africa and the rest went to administrative costs like salaries and pencils and whatever, like the 6-figure salary of the CEO. That's pretty much legal in our democratic, capitalist system. Both sides worked that out, I reckon. Where the Trump's went wrong was keeping all of the money for themselves. That's theft. There are rules, ya know.

You would think that would have been some pretty good foreshadowing of how this guy would be as president, and you'd be right! It comes up pretty often in the threads of social media, but it pales in comparison to his myriad other crimes. It wasn't even entry-level for this guy. He had been at financial criming earlier in life. We all know that. Nobody cares, except us, and in the whole spectrum of democracy, we are hating the player, not the game.

The system does allow for this. Both sides get a taste of this. That fvcking gangster I wrote about the other day is appalled that Obama got wealthy after his presidency. How could that happen. Well, he wrote some books that were quite popular, and he gets like half a million dollars in speaking fees every time he speaks! You'd think a guy who also makes a living off of speaking to people about the life and has written books would pick up on that. Marone! Incredibly, he offered up that Trump was already a billionaire before he became president, as if to say, Trump didn't need the money! Does this fvcking guy even know rich people??!! Was he really even a gangster? They are kinda all about money... You still hear maga saying that Trump gave up his easy life as a billionaire, to serve the people. Marone again, naturally.

We could have nice things in this country with democracy, but people make it hard, in office and out on the streets. It isn't just republicans, but they are a bigly part of it as they are sworn enemies of democracy. We did have a lot of nice things a couple months back when we were a democracy. There is no doubt in my mind that, with Kamala Harris as president, we would at this moment, be as well off as we were two months ago. 100%.

Well, maybe 99.9%. I got to say, she would have been more of the same old same old. Same old battling republicans to feed children and fix roads. Democracy business as usual. It'd be nice, way nicer than things are now, but it would just be kicking the can down the road.

We can't go on with this two-party system of changing goal posts every 4-8 years. Whether a democrat or a republican is in The White House, it is stagnation. Many dems, progressives like AOC would love to change the system, but neither party wants that. It would never be allowed to happen whether it was Harris, AOC or Bernie Sanders at the helm. It shouldn't be allowed under Trump, but it is happening.

He's the perfect guy to burn democracy to the ground, a natural at destroying things. There's no room for reform. Republicans- and some dems- won't allow it. If Trump is successful in destroying democracy, the republicans won't win. The fascists will win. They won't think of themselves as fascists because they've be misconscrewing such terms for the last 40 years, so they'll think that they are republicans, but they haven't been republicans since Reagan took office in 1980. If you think they hate pronouns, they really hate political definitions! For fvcks sake they think Trump is a republican and a Christian!

It won't be pretty. The fall of any nation never is. There will be blood. It's going to suck for everybody- except the billionaires- but maybe even for them too as they realize that making money in a democratic republic was pretty easy (after all they became billionaires) but maybe it's a little bit harder to make money off of people when the people have no money.

There are two great scenes in The Sopranos where mobster Patsy Parisi and a goombah try to shake down, first the manager of a Starbucks and then one of their regular 'accounts'. The manager explains every bean is in the computer and he has NO discretionary funds. If they beat him up, corporate will just send another manager. And so on and so on. Their next stop is to collect protection money from the egg man who has been paying them for years. That guy informs them that their boss- Tony- sold the building to the Jamba Juice people. Their business with him is done. Patsy and the henchman walk out, and Patsy shakes his head and says, "It's over for the little guy..."

And it is. Where do you and I fit into this New World Disorder? I promise you they didn't factor us into their plans. They never really did. Why start now? Republicans, who can't lead in a democratic republic, will surely fvck up fascism. under any name. Hopefully, a new system rises from the ashes and the survivors work together to rebuild as one people, with no parties. I doubt it, but a Ferrerman can dream, can't he? They'll fvck that up too-it's human nature, I think. Same old, same old.
