Christopher Moltasanti, Green Beret
I recently went down a rabbit hole of Special Forces podcasts on the YouTube. Currently there is much gnashing of teeth in the SF community about the veracity of the war stories written by an ex-Green Beret named Tim Kennedy. By many accounts he embellished his tales for the book and the ensuing book tour. This reopened several cans of worms with accusations of Stolen Valor made against other ex-SF guys like Marcus Lutrell (of "Lone Survivor" fame) and Chris Kyle of "American Sniper" fame. Here it is, damn near 2025, and we still can't believe everything we hear. Everybody wanted flying cars by now, I just wanted the truth. Instead, we all got nothing but Tesla's that catch fire and MSM bullshit.
The most interesting video I saw was by an ex-Green Beret who spent an entire video making the point that Special Forces guys are not role models. Though one himself, he said that, to a man, there were all serial killers, not be admired. In fact, unless one was a serial killer/psychopath, you could not make it as SF guy. There was no room for men of solid, moral convictions with consciences and abilities to experience regret. I'm making my own conclusion here, but think about Ted Bundy, Jeffery Dahmer or any serial killer out there and you just know they don't have quiet moments where they pause to reflect and say, "Gosh, I probably shouldn't have done that..."
That man himself said unequivocally that he regretted absolutely nothing he had done. He slept well.
I get that. It scares me, but I get that. At that level of war, you just have to be able to kill without conscience or thought. You just do it. It's your job.
It just fascinates me that these guys did deadly, manly things and then fucking lie about it. Pretty cool gig to be a SEAL or a Green Beret, but hey- let's make it even cooler by jazzing it up a bit for the cameras. Like a late-night talk show, you want to be invited back, right? Joe Rogan will believe you. It's good for his own ratings to believe you. That's what keeps people coming back to his show.
I've always enjoyed war and gangster films. I've been through "The Sopranos" three times now and I will do it again. Many of the Soprano's characters are fucking psychopaths. They could be SEAL's without all the training. I could see Christopher Moltasanti getting his orders: "Go to this country, kill everybody. I got it, T. I will not let you down, T, you know that. I love you" It's kinda the same thing really. At that level you are killing people for the politics of money. Whether it's for Uncle Sam or the Soprano family, it's just business, nothing personal.
I thought about this when the USSC gave Donald Trump presidential immunity. Technically they gave it to Joe Biden too, but we all know they really gave it to Trump. And the 6 miscreants on the USSC know that too and they know that Joe Biden would not abuse that privilege. It just looked better giving it to 'all' presidents on Joe's watch. Better optics. Because it was granted on Biden's watch, many of us wondered aloud how nice it would be if Joe ordered SEAL Team 6 to take out Trump. Technically he could, right? Well, therein lies the rub of having a conscience. Biden knows right from wrong. It might be technically legal for Joe to have Trump clipped, but it is wrong to do so. It sets a bad precedent. We the people don't operate that way, even when we have others at our disposal who do.
A part of me wonders if any of these SF teams would do it for Biden. They like Trump. They may be expert killers but when it comes to politics they seem to be as dumb as the average maga. How the hell could anyone look at Trump and see strength? I'll never understand how seemingly intelligent people can't spot him as an idiot pussy from just a glance. It's so easy, even a Ferrerman can do it. I guess I'm glad I have a conscience. I sleep pretty well myself despite it.
