Regime Change You Can Believe In
Whether he was chosen by God, the Devil or just 77 million fucking idiots, it is clear that Donald Jan Trump has a mandate from somebody to destroy America. He is well into it. This destruction might be a good thing though. It might be the only way America can improve.
Let's pretend that later this year in November the midterms go on without any fuckery from Trump, who comes right out and says he wants to nationalize the elections. No more of this state stuff like the Constitution delineates. Typically, the party in power might lose seats in the midterms as voters express their dissatisfaction with the White House. In a fair election Trump would get trounced by voters- including his own- because he has managed to disappoint most everyone. This happens when you are a criminal, pedophile president like nobody has ever seen before.
Trump may settle for simply having ICE and/or National Guard troops posted at select polling places to intimidate liberal voters. There is precedent for this, but it's in third world countries, which aren't supposed to be our role models, but they seem to be his.
Even a slight upheaval in the house and maybe the senate would get the ball rolling on impeaching Trump and getting him out of office. Others in his chain of demand (<--- see what I did there?) should and could fall by the wayside too. I say "should" because that would be a smart thing for democrats to do. But we don't have smart democrats leading the way. We have Schumer and Jefferies. Some could argue that they are playing 5D chess (whatever the fuck that is) but the reality is Trump is playing Chinese Checkers. You cannot beat a guy at Chinese Checkers by playing any dimension of chess.
So, we can't count on those two leaders to do anything but the wrong thing. They like the two-party system, and they love the status quo even though that sinking ship sailed in 2016. It is not coming back, and it never should. Those two fucking mopes- if given the chance to prosecute Trump- would probably sentence him to time served in office. They'd probably say shit like, "The nation needs to heal" and "We need to come together as one" and other obliquely romantic notions one might say to a cheating spouse who wants to come back after the new guy or gal didn't quite pan out. Sometimes the best way to stop people is to just stop, people.
We have to stop this dog n' pony show of democracy. Democracy itself is fine- it's just that we don't do it right. We are too fucking democratic about it. We have to face the fact that republicans are the reason we can't have nice things. They have never been on our side. Never. That has to stop.
Trump burning the country to the ground might be the best thing that could happen to the US. Sometimes a complete teardown is the only way to build anew. Lord knows neither party is capable of productive change and the status quo made all this fuckery possible.
Yep. If anything, Trump has shown the world how ugly we always were. I keep thinking maybe the Dems get together in the middle of the night and are working on an awesome escape like the prisoners in any war movie. It's my way to mentally survive.
ReplyDeleteIt's (sadly) the only way they can even try to get better.
