I Digress
Well, congrats to Venezuela for winning the World Baseball Classic. I didn't watch because I don't have that level of Fox in my TV lineup. I've got Fox Sports, which you'd think would be enough, but it's never enough. The networks always leave you wanting- and paying- for more. New Cub, Daniel Palencia, pitched the 9th for his country and that pleases me. It should be a good year for him.
Today is corned beef day for me. This is because I dicked around and didn't get the potatoes and carrots until yesterday evening. I also picked up a small head of cabbage that I paid too much for. I'm OK with cabbage, but I could live without it. The young man at the fancy grocery store looked at it and asked me if it was lettuce. I told him it was cabbage but said he could ring it as lettuce- "whichever's cheaper". He laughed. He said, "We don't get many ferrermen in here." To wit I replied, "Not at these prices..." I love corned beef! I got THREE pointe briskets! Know why? Because I love corned beef! Two will stay in the freezer for later in the year, when it's not St. Paddy's and no one but me bothers to want it.
Inspired by rival blogger, Maggie, I have taken to bypassing the dryer at the laundromat and hanging my clothes to air dry in the back room. It only saves like 75 cents per load and maybe 16 minutes in the dryer, but the clothes come out wrinkle-free and require no ironing. Rather than fold, I just hang 'em in the closet. Easy-peasy. This has freed up beaucoup space in the two dressers I have. Socks and underpants take up three drawers and I dunno what to do with the others now. I'll think of something, maybe. If there's ever another Mrs. Ferrerman, she'll appreciate the drawer space. Perhaps she'll look in the closet and appreciate the well-hung Ferrerman too?
I got caught up on "Lioness" last night and am pleased to hear there will be a third season. I'm caught up on a few other shows too, like "TASK", "Mob Land" and "The Mayor of Kingstown" and I *think* those three are also returning but have no idea when. I like streaming when you are behind on a popular show as you can really get into it at your own pace. Once caught up though, then you have to wait a week like normal viewers.
As a Ferrerman of a certain age, I have noticed how quickly the weeks fly by now. When you're a kid, everything seems to drag on in slow motion. Friday will never get here! Same with a work week. I'm retired though and, when days of the week mean nothing, the calendar speeds ahead. Not complaining, just noticing.
I didn't have corned beef or celebrate the Irish in me which is zilch. Yay! Glad you took the advice. Clothes dried by the sun smell great, too.
ReplyDeleteYa know, I'd still do it even if I had laundry in-house. Clothes, towels, etc. just feel better. All that heat in a dryer must be hard on the clothes too.
