The Olympics, Baby!

Will one of our Olympic athletes give their Gold Medal to Trump? Probably not, but these days you have to ask. Then you have to ponder if a foreign winner might give up their gold, perhaps to keep their country from being bombed or their leader kidnapped in a ridiculous election fraud scheme. I mean, if there is one thing you do know these days, it is that you never know. With Trump, all things are possible. None of them are good. 

I fairly enjoy the Olympics. There is no shame in my game in rooting for our American athletes. They represent the US, but I think they really represent themselves and the hard work and dedication it takes to try to achieve their own ultimate goal. I have to believe that is the same for these young people all over the world, in representing their country. They are competing against their peers in the rest of the world. That's sports, baby! Perhaps purer even, as our own sports leagues are pretty damn mercenary with trades and free agency dictating who you play for. When you are seeing the best in the world performing though, I really don't care what 'country' wins. The winner is the individual.

JD Vance got booed soundly when he showed his smug, pretend hillbilly face at the opening ceremony. I got no problem with that. He's an asshole. The whole world knows it. As an American I can't take that as a personal affront against my country, even if it's meant that way. It's hard for the rest of the world to not hate this regime and I certainly get that. I'm glad they are in my club! I like to think though that they don't take it out on our individual athletes. Nothing personal. They just hate our criminal, pedophile president and where he is taking our once proud country, because it sure as heck affects them too. So, they boo JD and the flag, but I believe they respect the US athletes, gold, silver or bronze. There are assholes all over the planet, so maybe some don't. That's humanity, baby!  

Enjoy the Olympics for the competition. It's good stuff even if you don't care much about speed skating or whatever the heck curling is all about. Your home country may not win but go ahead and applaud the man or woman who did. They worked for it. They achieved their dream. They are the best in the world- for now- regardless of flags. That's humanity, baby. Celebrate that.

An odd exchange with a follower earlier. To another poster I added to his complaint about the recent trend of side-by-side reaction videos They are dumb and pretty much unnecessary. Her Soft Underbelly Exposed

One of the better interviewers you'll see on YouTube is Mark Laita of the "Soft, White Underbelly" channel. It's my understanding he is primarily a photographer whose interest has always been photographing the unseen segments of society- the street people, prostitutes, criminals and kinda freaks of life, that we generally ignore. Maybe it's all in the editing, but his success seems to be in letting his subjects talk without too much prompting from him. It's their story.  This episode was with a porn star- Addison Vodka. Well, that's what she goes by. Though I have seen my share of porn, I'm not on a first or last name basis with most of these people. Race to Judgement

 I was last night years old when I learned that former FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover, was African American. This wasn't breaking news as there was quite a bit of it on the google. I had been watching an interview with Judge Joe Brown about the MLK assassination, and the Judge threw it out there, I guess in the context of what a dick Hoover was to King and isn't it ironic. Hoover was hard on pretty much everybody from King's to Klan's to Kennedy's. Everybody but the mafia. The story there was the mob had intimate audio of Hoover and his boyfriend, as well as possible film of an encounter they had in a mob night club. I believe it was the Copacabana- the hottest spot north of Havana. That I had heard of for years. Judge Joe's mention was about Hoover passing for white, fooling most everyone but the Klan as they ran his family out of Louisiana when he was a boy.
