Just One More...
Back in my bartending days, I learned pretty quickly that problem drinkers always couched their drink requests saying, "Just give us one more..." This is usually about mid-stage when you have recognized the guy or guys are potentially going to be a problem for the house. It's a dance routine they've done many times with many bartenders. "Just one more..." is a drunk's con to the bartender that, they'll be gone as soon as they finish that last drink. Don't worry about them. You may think they are an asshole, but they aren't, so don't fret. They'll be gone soon. After just one more...
I Always saw it as a veiled threat because I knew the dance. I don't think it ever ended well. Even if it was early in their afternoon or evening, you couldn't cut them off at the pass just yet, even though you knew that was pretty damn inevitable. Cutting people off was always a crapshoot. No one likes to be told that they are drunk. You never know how they are going to react to being told, "Sir, you are cutoff. I can't serve you anymore." Some want to fight; some get up and leave. Often the rougher looking characters will move on quietly. I always figured they were used to it. Drink until the bartender tells you that you can't anymore. That's how they know they are done. To some guys that you wouldn't expect to put up a fuss, them's fightin' words though. They may have a good job where they make a lot of money, and they tell people what to do. No bartender tells them that they are drunk and can't have just one more! Well, yes, they do. This one did.
I think about this with Trump and his threat to 'run' for a third term, Trump apparently doesn't drink. He says he doesn't, but he tells a lot of lies. I have often wondered if maybe he should drink. Ever know anybody who was a belligerent prick while sober, but became a happy drunk after a few drinks? My little sister (the one who was like a little brother to me) is like that. The one time I remember her being warm and sisterly to me, was when she came home drunk from a party around her high school time. She was damn near human! It was very nice. I think though, that when she sobered up in the morning, she recalled just enough about being nice to her fucking asshole brother, that she vowed to never- ever- let that happen again. I don't know that she ever drank at family parties after that. At least never around me.
But I digress again. One look at Trump these days and you know that a third term is completely out of the question. It's doubtful he'll make it to the midterms. I don't know what they are doing to make him semi-lucid at times, but they are only fooling the media and maga minions. Those people enjoy being fooled. It beats thinking. Both just care about 'ratings'.
A third Trump term is the just one more of threats. That threat actually came about in the 2024 campaign, and see where we are with drunken promises and veiled threats today? They are always going to want one more...
Bannon, Graham- the media- everyone is talking about a third Trump term. It's not even a year into the first year of his second term, and they are threatening a third! Because it is a threat. This is their way of saying, "You think things are fucked up now??!! You just wait! He IS going to get a third term! You will never be free of him! NEVER!!"
They have the temerity to say this after he is shown on tape meandering around a meeting hall in Japan like grandpa at his retirement home. Yeah, sure, seven more years of that will make America great again. Who wouldn't want that??
So, relax, folks. Nature will take its course, sooner rather than later. Unless republicans adopt my joke plan about making a deceased him the first AI president in perpetuity (another 6-3 ruling from the USSC) where they feed Big Mac's, Diet Coke and gibberish into an AI machine to create exactly what an alive him would do in a presidential capacity, we have nothing to fear but fear itself. And fuckin' JD Vance, but story for another day...
👏👏👏👏👏👏
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not worried about it. I doubt he'll make it through this term. I'm curious about that MRI he took. That's for serious issues. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞
ReplyDeleteYeah, he made it sound like it was routine and, of course, his was the best his doctors had ever seen!
