We Need to Cowboy Up

 We have a real and imagined history of rugged individualism in these United States. Perhaps your heroes have always been cowboys. Mine have been. Maybe gangsters. I love the genre of gangsters in film even though I recognize the psychotic realities of fictional and actual gangsters, and I know full well they are depraved sociopaths. Inside every man or woman is an avenger tempted to get out and have Hell follow with them. It's human nature. It's human nature when faced with the inhuman nature of life. 

We are looking at that right now. The nation's wisest pundits and influencers are pointing out that the cavalry is not coming to save us. The hero is not coming to save us. 

There is no hero, because the guy that 77 million people think is the hero, is the actual fvcking villain in this story. As you may have guessed, it's Trump! Trump can't save us from Trump. I guess he's just not that good. 

He certainly isn't as good as his minions portray him in their homoerratic (sic.) depictions of him as young, virile generals from our history, like George Washington and Patton (I guess). Patton Oswald maybe, without the humor. I don't know. If you look at the guy and can't see he's an overweight, ignorant asshole, you just are beyond help in your Trump Derangement Syndrome. 

If I were on the outside of America looking in, I would be aghast that millions of Americans chose him to be the president- twice. Golly, I'm on the inside of America and I can't believe it! This 78-year-old piece of shit is the guy that millions want to burn the country to the ground. That's definitely not Central Casting! But really, aren't crazed dictators generally stupid looking guys? Hitler. Mussolini. Stalin. Guys like those don't really make the women swoon and the men shake in their boots, but- dammit- they pull it off!

That is because of the muscle behind them. Essentially Trump does have the finest military the world has ever seen behind him. We may see that very soon. He also has the world's richest man at his disposal. Combine that with control of the three branches of government and, though you can say all day every day that "He can't do THAT" the reality is he CAN do that. No one can stop him. He controls all the people who could tell him no. So, don't get your hopes up for a heart attack or an assassination. This country only kills good leaders, the Lincolns, Kennedys and King Jr's. He's safe. 

He's a puppet. His own backers would be the most likely assassins anyway. They have the most to gain in his martyrdom. Someone stepping up and putting him down wouldn't solve anything. I still think they'll do it themselves prior to the midterms as an excuse to implement Martial Law. It makes sense, at least to me. Perhaps I'm not a wartime consigliere. We won't know until they get there whether it makes sense to them or not. Taking over America and destroying democracy might be as easy as they are currently making it look. Who knew? They must wake up every morning marveling at the shit they are getting away with each day.

So, what do we the people do to fight this knowing that no one is coming to save us? We fight, of course. We fight like men and women have since the first tyrant tried to control the world, thousands of years ago. It's the struggle of life. Live free or die. 

All politics is local. When grandmothers and disabled people are left out in the streets to die because the richest moron in the world wants their Social Security, well, you're not going to get to him. The French in WWII surely wanted to kill Hitler, but that wasn't going to happen. They went for the collaborateurs. They made motherfvckers pay at street level for their vulgar compliance. The holocaust was *legal* folks. Resistance was not. When your world redefines right and wrong, you have to straighten that world out. What do you have to lose but your life, your life that they clearly do not care about. Get set to get hard, folks. Hard times are just around the corner.
