The Pitt and the Curved Pendulum
When it comes to television, I usually don't want to know how the sausage is made. I don't try too hard to figure out whodunnit, because with fiction, that's up to the writer. For example, "DTF St. Louis", a limited series on HBO/MAX. I *think* that Floyd killed himself to provide his wife, Carol, with a comfortable life he absolutely cannot give her due to his debt and curved penis. But isn't that what the writer's want me to think? Of course it is. They led me down the garden path with that notion just as the insurance payoff also pointed the curved penis at Carol. She stands to profit BIGLY from Floyd's death obviously, and a spouse is always the #1 suspect. And, of course, Clark, who is Floyd's best friend- and Carol's lover, and presumably has a penis as straight as a preacher's dick, might want Carol and the money for his own self. These are all possibilities. It's up to the writers, just like in real life as with Trump murders like Epstein and Kirk. It doesn't have to make sense. It is what is decided by the powers that be. Just like on TV.
I'm probably fine with however it ends. It's a quirky, dark comedy with a great cast. Sunday is episode 6 of 7 and I'm Down to Watch.
Now, the hottest show on TV is "The Pitt", also on HBO/MAX. This is not "hot" in the trumpian, bullshit way. It's an excellent cast, delivering realistic dialogue from superb writers. Each episode covers one hour of one day in a fictional hospital in Pittsburgh. Thus, the name. It's like a 21st century "ER" and it even stars a 21st century Noah Wyle. It's an 8.9 on the IMDb Richter scale. "The Sopranos" is a 9.2 so, it's already in legendary television territory. The doctors and nurses are all some degree of good-looking, but more importantly, they are of the races, colors and creeds one would actually find in Emergency Departments anywhere in the US. I've been told male nurses are well represented on the show, more so than on other TV hospital dramas, a reflection of real life. The producers get a lot of good feedback from real medical personnel, as well as story suggestions. I like hearing that because so much of the internet is random *experts* shitting all over what anyone else does, just because they can. What a great learning tool the internet could be if some people would just shut the fuck up.
My only beef with "The Pitt" is with the fans and their fan fiction. A lot of people out there think they know more than the writers. Typical. "The Sopranos" ended 20 years ago and there are threads where fans mob-splain what *really* happened. They give backstories to characters that the actual writers must find very annoying. Because "The Pitt" is so popular, this has been happening for quite some time. I gloss over that shit as much as I can, but I'm a fan myself and my algorithms know this, so I get a ton of Pitt content. I generally don't like actors talking about their characters, but I get that they are vested in their characters, and the cast is so IRL likeable that they make it more palatable than with other shows. Plus, they are mostly all better looking IRL than their characters. I like to see that. The actress, Taylor Dearden, who plays Dr. Mel King, is the real-life daughter of Bryan Cranston. She only wears glasses on the show, and I wouldn't see her real dad in her in character, but off set, Oh Yeah! Bryan and his wife did good. Same with Iranian American actress, Sepideh Moafi who has Bride-of-Frankenstein hair on the show but is fucking gorgeous in real life.
So, I try to not let fandom interfere with my enjoyment of a show. Other people really complicate life for us, don't they? It's all up to whoever is writing this show called life. All we can do is, sit back and see what happens next. I know I have no idea!
