Irony
Well, Charlie Kirk, eh? Word is it happened while he was saying the gun violence problem in America was street gangs. Not sure if he had covered transgenders yet, but he usually gets around to them. I'm certain street gang members didn't do this, and frankly it's a safe bet that it wasn't a trans man or woman. We don't know yet, but figure on a straight, white male.
I didn't think of Charlie as an important man. I saw him as a grifter, one that was smart enough to get in on the prime grift market of rightwing extremism. That's where the money is and his *job* paid well. I enjoyed seeing clips of him getting smoked in debates by well-informed college kids. He kept plucking along though, declaring victory where there was none. He could always brush off detractors by saying they were "woke". We all know what that means! Well, no, we don't. Neither do they.
Anyway, except for the ridiculous Trump hoax last year in Butler, Pa. republicans aren't used to being in harm's way when it comes to gunplay. It's usually children in schools and adults from all walks of life, in everyday life. The republican response is always "Thoughts & Prayers". They don't want to hear that now though. I think they know how empty the slogan is. It's probably extra offensive to them now.
However, that's all we've got. Cocksucker was right that gun violence is the price we pay for living under the glory of The Second Amendment. He knows that for sure now. Nothing will be done about guns in the US. The people who can do something- congress- refuse to act. They've had DECADES to do something, but the NRA and gun lobby was too powerful. Too wealthy. They paid off the right hands. Now we have more guns that people in the US. It's far too late to do anything about that. Don't kid yourself that it was ever going to happen. I haven't heard a word from Trump yet, but when he speaks about this, it will not be in sober, conciliatory tone. I'll figure he'll double down on violent rhetoric. This is political hay for him to light afire. Charlie wouldn't have it any other way.
