The Singer, Not the Song

 The silver lining in the cloud of Trump is that he's damn-near 79 years old, and in poor shape. It is comical that they discuss a constitution-busting third term here in the first hundred days of his second term, when he has the lowest approval rating of any president in the last 80 years. Let's not get too far ahead here Maga. Legalities aside, this is not a young man you are making plans for. 

And that mightcould be the silver lining for all of us democracy-loving Americans, and the world. 

There has never been an American president more singer not the song than Trump. Maga loves him, not necessarily what he does. When Trump pisses on their back and tells them it's raining, they believe it is raining. It's Trump! They love him! They love his liquid sunshine!

Him. It doesn't matter what he does. They don't much fret the nuts and bolts of politics. That shit's above their paygrade and they've learned in the last decade they can defend anything he says or does because it's him. They get him. He gets them. Trump is more of a religion than a politician. He is for people who don't understand politics and the workings of government, who just want change, even if it's wrong. They are the AMERICA- FUCK YEAH! crowd and he is THE guy who can fuck yeah it. There is no Plan B president in their hearts and minds. 

If Trump died tomorrow, presumably quietly in his sleep at some state function where- of course- his mere presence is making America Great Again as no other man on earth could do, all this bullshit would screech to a halt. Next in line, JD Vance, could not whip out his little dick and start peeing on the Maga crowd and convince them it was raining. No way! They don't really like him. He's no Trump. They accept Trump-adjacent people only as long as Trump does. Trump is a brand, and if you've been branded by Trump with the hot iron, you are good- until you're not good. 

There is NO ONE in the wings to replace Trump. Not the kids or Melania, certainly not Vance or Musk. They will try- there IS a Project 2025 here and all that, but without Trump to stumble through enacting it, they are screwed. When he goes, Maga goes. 

That's where they fucked up. They made it all about him rather than about Maga. "Yeah, Maga is great and all that, but TRUMP!"  Trump IS Maga. Brilliant move on the surface because no one could pull off this Maga nonsense better than him. He was a perfect storm of fuckery for ten years. 

Oh, he'll be a great martyr for generations to come and may actually be revered as a God a hundred or so years from now, but that's a future problem none of us will be around to worry about. 

Right here, right now, he's irreplaceable. There is a BIGLY difference in Trump doing stupid tariffs and insane mass deportations and Vance or anyone else doing them. Whereas Trump is a cult of personality, the rest of his gang are just big gubmint stumblebums. They are nothing without him. Don't know if they know that. I just know that they didn't prepare for Maga accepting no substitutes. They put all their eggs in one basket, one big, fat, old basket. Not a good plan after all. Maybe the last election really was all about eggs. Did they not realize there was an expiration date fast approaching?

Flipping the Script

 When it comes to TV and movies, I don't like to know how the sausage is made. But full disclosure, I find it hard to resist the inside info when it comes to "The Sopranos". As luck would have it, there are a bazillion YouTubes about all things Soprano.  It's kinda crazy to me that people that people spend so much time gossiping about a fictional show. "Why did this happen? Why that? How 'bout this theory?"  Shit like that. My first thought is always, ask the writer. It's their story. It's not ours to add anything to it. It's not "The Bible", after all.  Story arcs are different though. I've been seeing a lot of a particular arc in The Sopranos that always befuddled me. Marisa Tomei Likes Me

Marisa Tomei- I always thought I had a chance with her... That's a line from a "Seinfeld" episode where George Costanza said that about Marisa Tomei, and then as the script would have it, he met Marisa Tomei and they hit it off. Every mention of Marisa Tomei on the internet- if I see it- I will post it. Seinfeld fans get it.  So, I did that last week on a Facebook post and quickly got a like from Marisa Tomei. This caused me click on the profile, curious as to whether the actress was on FB or if it were a fan page.  I've gotten likes from actors before. Some I think were legit because they were just likes. Some of the cast of the "Sopranos" liked a post I made about the controversial ending of the series, where it suddenly went black- and that was it. Series over.
